Syncopating, in rhythm and motion, my work strives towards a sort of organized chaos. Not unlike free jazz, I place colors and textures in opposition and allow the ensuing clashes to coalesce as narratives. Collage is a people’s art form that is accessible to artists and non-artists alike. This along with a DIY punk ethic are the how and why for my source material choices. The LP covers from fifty or more years ago that I use are often highly saturated and glossy, emblazoned with technicolor designs and gently rubbed around the edges, they bear a patina created by the hands of listeners. This tactile experience most people can relate to is part of what drives my process. From hi-fi to lo-fi handmade art, these analog collages are paper dances of color and texture, created in collaboration with the unwitting hands of those listeners.
